Raised Beds - NEW!

I waited ever so patiently for the last frost on April 20th so I could load up the new raised beds.  And now, they're going strong!  Aren't they cute?  Fabulous soil, automatic watering, full sun... perfection.

Let me introduce you to the new tenants....

Home depot generic cherry tomato seed (lanky but doing well).

My special mini peppers (seed saved from the cute and delicious multi-colored sweet peppers from Mexico that I buy at the grocery store).  I would LOVE to be able to actually grow them!

The large sweet peppers reacted to the sun a bit, but they're growing vigorously.  There are a few peppers growing right now.  If they burn in the sun, Mark and I have burlap we're going to tent over the top.

Mmmmm short day onions!   I don't eat a lot of onions, and they're just fine from the grocery store, but I had to try these guys.  It seems that most onion seeds are long day onions which will only form bulbs in the northern or southern hemisphere, not in the LA area.  Go figure....

Tomatoes are happy in the sun.

Some of these tomato plants are the coveted Black Cherry Tomato... but alas, I don't know which : ))))

I'm sure I'll know when I see them produce fruit!

Cucumbers don't transplant well, they look a bit shocked.  But don't be fooled.   There are seeds from 8 different varieties of cucumber surrounding the cucumber arch.  I can't WAIT for them to hang through the netting and dangle in the walkway : ))))

Chicken wire and wood... perfection.

Staple guns make amazing trellises!

You can just imagine how happy this trellis will be with NOM vining all over it!

It's simply beautiful... thank you Mark!
