It's time for today's glamour shots of the gang growing in the indoor plant lab! Much has changed since the photos taken two weeks ago.
The spinach has done so well... I had to repot a bunch, and put some outside, as they were rootbound and I ran out of room for all of them to have gallon pots inside. They'll do fine out there... the days are starting to get longer, so more sun for them to soak up before the C O L D nights.
Various guys that got transplanted this weekend... there is lots of lettuce, chard, mache, and other visitors.
This is fun... my mini hydroponics experiment! Lettuce in a Ball quart jar with a 3" pot inside, using hydroten for the growing medium.
I have lots of carrots in the "hopeful" early stages. I'm determined to have zillions of carrots this spring!

More hydro experiments, these with nutes (vegetation plant food). Red leaf romaine lettuce, growing happily.

I'm SO proud of these cherry tomato plants. They are rootbound in their 2" pots, and getting transplanted today. They need warmth, so it's going to be a challenge finding enough light inside to keep them happy. Need more racks and lights! :-)
Another gorgeous Swiss Chard!
Here's the Jiffy tray that produced all this amazing lettuce... Red Leaf Romaine. They did so well in the expanded peat pellets. These seeds did very well in the covered germination tray, with a pad underneath to spread the moisture evenly.
Also in the Jiffy tray: Collards... These guys are going outside either today or next weekend. They won't mind the cold, and they're dying to produce lots of food. Collards are so yummy steamed with a tiny bit of ghee.
Still working hard to make the sweet tiny pepper plants strong... Keeping the cover on for now.
Here's how they look with the cover off. I saved these seeds from the yummy store bought sweet mini peppers, and I sure hope that's what they produce!
Mark's hydro lettuce experiment is more sophisticated than mine, complete with bubbler for more oxygen. His looks SO happy.
This is a single radish seed in perlite. Just curious to see what it will do! Seed went in yesterday.
In the center of the pic you can see the Basil plant. He smells so fragrant. I'm sure hoping he gets huge and can share leaves for my soups.

This is a cherry tomato doing very well under shop lights. he's getting too big for this shelf, so we'll have to find another place for him. Or, I might cut his head off and propagate him!
Cucumber - Marketer. In 2" pots, also root bound. These will be transplanted today.
Finally, carrots doing so well in peat pellets. My goal: 5-10 amazing carrots a week out of SOMEWHERE (pot, ground, indoors, hydro) all summer.
